Hours: M-Th: 1-9pm, F: 9-5pm, some weekends

Position Overview
The Program Coordinator will play a key role in advancing the mission of Austin Youth River Watch (AYRW) by directly working with teenagers and implementing AYRW’s program curriculum. This role involves planning, designing, and administering our high school programs. The Program Coordinator is also a mentor to the students with whom they work.
In addition, the Program Coordinator helps maintain the AYRW greenhouse, gardens, vehicles, and office, and performs general administrative tasks. Ancillary responsibilities may include meal deliveries to students’ homes and weekend outreach events.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following. The Program Coordinator will:
Contribute to the design, lead the implementation, and participate in the evaluation of AYRW’s after-school and summer programs.
Share knowledge of native species, climate change, and a variety of environmental topics.
Maintain and update program data spreadsheets, including student attendance, water quality data, and student contact information.
Transport students in 12-15 passenger vans during daily programming and extended camping trips.
Ensure vehicles are adequately maintained for safe daily use.
Coordinate with partnering organizations and individuals to provide occasional ancillary programming.
Participate in organization outreach activities, i.e. tabling at community events, student recruitment, fundraisers.
Help the staff team regularly clean and maintain our office space, the EcoHouse.
Attend program and professional development events on topics such as network building, equity, SEL, or environmental education.
Maintain programming equipment, such as water quality testing and environmental restoration supplies.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and organizational policies.
Work includes walking on uneven terrain, climbing creek banks, and lifting and carrying heavy supplies.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Experience in youth education (formal or informal).
Basic knowledge of environmental topics.
Safe, reliable driver and comfortable driving 12-15 passenger vans.
Strong interpersonal communication and listening skills, especially when working with youth.
Experience working with diverse communities, and a clear commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Thrives working in collaborative settings and also comfortable working independently.
Technology skills: Google Workspace or Microsoft Office.
Ability to work weekends and overnight events as needed. These events include weeklong spring break and summer camping trips, and overnight student adventures.
Ability to attain and maintain status: as a Certified Water Quality Monitor (training provided); in CPR/1st Aid certification (adult, child, and infant); and other training and certifications when appropriate.
Passing a comprehensive criminal background check.
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time position with a salary range of $43,680 - $45,760 per year, depending on experience. Austin Youth River Watch offers a great benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision, vacation, sick leave, and a 403(b) retirement plan.
Austin Youth River Watch also offers a total of 24 paid holidays per year. Please note that MLK Day in January is normally a day in which AYRW is hosting community service events in reflection of Dr. King’s service to the community, and is not a paid holiday. To compensate for this, Presidents Day in February is a paid holiday.
The Program Coordinator will also be required to attend overnight camping trips during the AISD Spring Break period and in the summer.
