Del Valle ISD - 21st Century CCLC Afterschool Program Specialist
Primary Purpose:
The Afterschool Program Specialist is responsible for providing program and staff support and developing resources for the project director and the 21 CCLC sites. The Afterschool Program Specialist should have strong organizational and administrative skills, good interpersonal skills and communication skills, good writing and computer skills, and experience in youth and family services, public education or recreation.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Certification
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
College coursework in education/ youth issues, preferred
Texas Teaching Certification, preferred
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee approximately $50.00) paid by the employee
Required Experience:
Experience working with school-based personnel, community groups, and youth groups
Knowledge/Skills:
Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft applications: Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Experience with child development or leisure studies preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Work with the Project Director in supporting 10 - 21st CCLC sites in program design, continuous improvement, and evaluation.
Work to increase site and cross-site initiatives to build protective factors (e.g. mentoring, prevention curricula, etc.)
Work with Project Director and site-coordinators to build and support local activities.
Work with director and local site coordinators on sustainability through, local partnerships, support from community businesses, and special events planning.
Support sites in data collection and evaluation for federal and state reporting requirements and assist in completing reports to all grant funding sources.
Work with director to provide monthly budget updates to sites
Work with the director to plan regular site coordinator meetings, training, and events.
Assist the director in developing or procuring curricula and other resources, (such as speakers/trainers and supplies) for sites.
Research possible sustainable funding opportunities and assist in development of grant applications.
Successfully advances district initiative
Plan, coordinate, and implement the Family Engagement Program in a manner consistent with the Texas ACE Blueprint
Plan, organize, and promote consistent activities for families
Coordinate services with programs within the school and with external community groups
Conduct needs assessments and surveys to determine the types of activities to offer
Plan & organize Family Support Service workshops
Be available to work flexible hours to accommodate evening and weekend activities
All other duties as assigned by the Project Director.
Family Engagement
Oversee professional development and selection.
Design and implementation of family engagement activities that increase family literacy and meaningful connections to school-day learning.
Community Engagement
Build connections between the school, the community learning centers, and community partners to support implementation of high-quality academic and enrichment activities, family engagement opportunities, and program sustainability.
Support or lead the voluntary Texas ACE steering committee.
Accelerated Learning
Oversee implementation of High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM), High-Impact Tutoring (HIT) and other school-day aligned academic support.
Aid in aligning enrichment and family engagement with academic support. This may include selecting, designing, and evaluating academic and enrichment activities for students.
Leading ongoing professional development, program observations, and coaching for site-coordinators to improve program quality.
Summer Learning
Oversee design and implementation of a robust and rigorous summer program that includes High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM), High-Impact Tutoring (HIT) or other school-day aligned academic support, high-quality enrichment, and aligned family engagement.

Personal computer, printer, calculator, telephone, copier, fax machine, shredder, and other equipment associated with the position.
Work is performed in a standard office environment.
Incumbent has the ability to use a defibrillator.

Work irregular and extended work hours to include holidays and weekends __- if needed Saturday tournaments/competitions.
Work with frequent interruption and maintain emotional control under stress.
Position may require periods of sitting at computer and standing at copier.
Some lifting of boxes required.
Use of vehicle is necessary to run errands and pick up supplies as necessary.
This position may involve rare exposure to blood or body fluids.
